Resident Advisor Review of Motherload/Sphinx

Resident Advisor 25th June 2004

After a very nice release on Border Community, the live act known as The MFA continue their great form with another stunning release, this tim eon the Precinct imprint. Two very delightful tracks that are sure to get The MFA the attention they deserve.

Motherload is first up and it is an impressive journey of a production. Slowly getting into gear with an array of bouncing baselines and quirky percussive elements, the track soon enough gets into full throttle with some intense drum patterns and a delightful melodic pattern that gets the full effect and filter treatment throughout. Don’t take my word for it though, listen for yourself to see just how impressive this production is.

Sphinx on the flip is also very impressive and a little tougher on the ears. The baseline rumbles throughout and as the track builds it turns into a real acid house extravaganza. Quirky effects and bleep come in and out of the track all while the low end rumbles and keeps the groove flowing.

A great release here for Precinct, and it looks as though this label is set for great things ahead, especially considering their first three releases have had so much success already. This is must hear material!
